JInShinJyutsu, The Art of Harmony
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient healing art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. Virtually all traditional healing systems are founded on the principle that in order to heal the body, the person must strengthen and harmonize the flow of life energy within. Widely known before the birth of Buddha and Moses, Jin Shin Jyutsu was rediscovered in the early 1900’s by Japanese Master Jiro Murai.
At age 26, Jiro was pronounced incurable and given up for terminally ill by a succession of doctors. He chose to go into the mountains for a week to fast, meditate, and practice several finger postures (mudras). During this time he passed in and out of consciousness. His physical body vacillated between freezing and intense heat but on the seventh day when this subsided, he experienced a tremendous calm and inner peace and was fully healed. He then gave thanks and pledged his life to study healing. He spent the next 50 years conducting meticulous, systematic research that gave him a profound understanding of the intricacies of the human body. His knowledge and experience of Jin Shin Jyutsu was then given to Mary Burmeister,a Japanese-American woman studying in Japan, who brought it to the United States in the 1950’s.
Jin Shin Jyutsu brings balance to the body’s energies and facilitates our own profound healing capacity, thus promoting optimal health and well-being. It is an Art as opposed to a technique because a technique is a mechanical application, whereas an Art is a skillful creation. Master Murai incorporated acupuncture and many other Asian modalities into his research and created a sophisticated and highly developed type of healing. It is so gentle and noninvasive that it allows the recipient to feel at ease and receptive to the healing process while it offers a deep power to heal. This gentle approach makes it an excellent choice for anyone from infants and elders.
Jin Shin Jyutsu employs 26 “safety energy locks” along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths become blocked, the circulation of life energy is compromised and health problems and/or pain occur. Holding these safety energy locks in particular sequences can bring balance to body, mind and spirit. This balance enhances overall well-being and vitality and often releases the causes of both acute and chronic conditions. It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation and reducing the effects of stress.Through Jin Shin Jyutsu our awareness is awakened to the simple fact that we are endowed with the ability to harmonize and balance ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually.
The Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is practiced by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated safety energy locks to harmonize and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress, which accumulate through normal daily living. It does not involve massage, manipulation of muscles, or use of drugs or substances. For those addressing existing stress or health disharmonies and for those simply choosing to maintain health, harmony and well-being, the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a powerful, simple and effective choice.
I discovered the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu in1993 during my own search for optimum health and well-being. My response to JSJ was immediate and I noticed feeling calmer, more peaceful, deeper breathing, a certain strength, happiness, confidence, curiosity and sense of self. I practice JSJ self-help everyday and teach others the Art of JSJ Self-Help. The methods are so easy and unobtrusive that one can practice them anywhere at any time while achieving significant health benefits and improvement in their quality of life.
Since 1993 I have been a dedicated and compassionate practitioner offering private sessions for adults and children. I teach classes throughout New England for those interested in learning methods that can assist them with their personal concerns. Each class is tailored to the audience such as teaching women with breast cancer how best to move energy through their breasts as well as their entire body to avoid or diminish accumulations or how to aid asthmatics with their breathing, etc.
The observations and results that I’ve witnessed since 1993 still amaze me but nothing surprises me. Watching people’s lives change and people healing is the usual scenario with JSJ and it’s a pleasure to be part of. Healing can happen with just one session or over several sessions. The following are a few examples.
-A woman who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and experiencing pain throughout her entire body came to me. She couldn’t put her hand anywhere on her body without experiencing significant pain and couldn’t take care of her children. After one session, she was pain free and has never experienced this type of pain again.
-Another client of mine brought her mother in to help her relax before her heart surgery, which was scheduled for the following day. When she went in the following day and had last minute tests before the surgery the doctor was surprised to find that her heart was normal and cancelled the surgery. The fluid that had surrounded her heart and was giving her pain among others symptoms was gone. She was quite happy to say the least. There have been several instances where clients have been able to cancel surgeries due to resolved health issues.
-In 1997 I worked with an infertility group. There were a variety of reasons why each of the women weren’t able to give birth or conceive. Within 14 months there were 7 healthy babies born to these very happy women.
-Another client ended years of smoking after just one session. JSJ is beneficial for all conditions in my opinion including digestive, respiratory, circulatory, emotional, pain, fatigue and of course, excellent for those on chemotherapy or radiation to help the body recover, keep the immune system as strong as possible and reduce side effects. There is no end to how it helps. This is just a sampling. Why not be the testimony and come for a session to experience it for yourself!
