Gratitude ...
If you have come by the clinic lately, you may have stopped to read our front window. There is a sign that says simply "Gratitude" and with it are a group of heartfelt thank yous we have received since the beginning of this year. Many of these were prompted by our Count Your Blessings newsletter that we sent out, but many just wanted us to know that what we do really makes a difference. There are so many times that people truly receive help and guidance from us that brings about real change in their lives. Often we don't even know, because few people return once they feel great. We only see them when they're not feeling so great, and it's then that I hear that what we suggested and provided was something special, and that's why they're back.
This prompts me to say a few things about natural medicine that you may not realize. First, it doesn't always work. Now you may already have figured that out, after all not everything works for every person all the time. But it's more than that. Natural medicine, including therapy, herbs, nutrition, homeopathy and even things like meditation, will only work as well as the person and their body is receptive to it. Natural means it needs your body's natural way of doing things in order to bring about change. If your body systems are not working well, then natural medicine won't work well, until your systems recover. So many people ask me to only select one or two things for them to take, or to do. But that is ignoring the whole basis of holistic care. It has to work on all levels, within all systems, and simultaneously, in order to get the change you are looking for.
Natural medicine also won't be as effective if there are blockages. These can range from an unresolved infection to an unhealed trauma to the limitations we all put on what we are willing to do. Often what you are doing secretly in your life, what you are eating, what you are taking, what you are subjecting yourself to, are all going to determine how much change your body can achieve.
Natural isn't miraculous, it's simply marvelous, that we can work with our bodies, listen to our bodies and right the wrongs that have been done, even down to a cellular level. So if you don't get a solution the first try, don't give up. Just sit down and think about the things that may be preventing you from wellness. Then try again ...
We are all truly grateful for something. We just need to acknowledge that and express it. It is the glue that binds us all together.
