Pain is THE Word!

Everyone has experienced pain at some point in their life. But how many people experience pain every day, every hour? More and more each year. Pain is not just a perception, it is a phenomenon and one that is created by our body in response to something that cannot seem to be resolved.

This means that pain is not “all in your head” nor is it something that your body is doing wrong. Instead think of it as an adjustment that the body is being forced to do. The goal then is to determine what is causing the body to have to make this adjustment which is the reason for the pain. Here are some common reasons:

  • You injured yourself and never healed will or never provided enough rest for you to heal.

  • You had a surgery which created an autoimmune response that cannot access nor provide for full healing.

  • You are chronically over-exerting yourself.

  • You have a postural problem that has not been addressed.

  • You have chronic muscle tension.

But here are the less known reasons that are key reasons for ongoing pain:

  • Your gut is compromised and you do not have enough gut flora.

  • Your diet is poor and cells are dying creating a constant wash of chemicals that trigger inflammation and immune response.

  • The pain medications that are provided are actually creating adverse effects that continue or even increase the pain while increasing pain sensitivity, anxiety, depression and poor gut health.

  • Over-exercising, poor muscle recovery or repetitive strain to muscles which create degeneration of normal muscle fibers.

  • Chronic viral, bacterial or fungal infections which stimulate inflammation and create fibrosis which limits normal movement.

  • Chronic stress prevents repair of damaged or over-used tissue while inhibiting normal healing processes, allowing chronic inflammation to go unchecked.

  • Toxin deposition in tissue triggers immune activity which brings inflammation to the area trying to eliminate the toxin.

  • Unhealed damage to cells from too few antioxidants, unresolved infections or insufficient amounts of healthy new cells can all trigger chronic inflammation.

  • Chronic lack of sleep prevents the body from repairing and increases the perception of pain.

The point is that simply trying to stop inflammation, with pain relievers, cortisone injections, nerve ablations cannot solve the problem. It simply stops the pain signal but does nothing for the reason the pain is there.

The first step is to really look at the history of your pain - when did it begin, how has it changed over time, what were the obvious possible factors at the time it began? You also may be able to point towards obvious ways in which you have ignored your body’s needs - poor diet, chronic insomnia, ongoing stress, poor circulation, multiple injuries, literally pushing the body past its limits. Knowing the answers to these questions can help you decide what might be the path moving forward that can change this scenario.

Helping the body to resolve the underlying factors is the first key, but there are also a host of great natural options to reduce and even eliminate inflammation and pain from arthritis, headaches, neuralgia, fibromyalgia and even inflammatory bowel diseases. My favorites include Boswellia, Ginger, Turmeric, Celery Seed and White Willow Bark.

Don’t allow pain to stop you in your tracks. Just take the right steps and you’ll be walking for years to come … pain-free.
